Generated sounds
White, soft white, pink and brown noise, fan, rain, shushing, womb-like whooshing and heartbeat are generated for this project. Soft white is white noise with softened high frequencies; womb uses a low, gently swelling whoosh; heartbeat offers three original double-beat loops: Soft at 60 beats per minute, Warm at 66, and the original Classic at 72. Soft and Warm use rounded, fading pulses with a quiet textured bed. Womb and heartbeat are sound designs, not fetal or medical recordings. Fan is a synthetic hum; rain contains no thunder recording; shushing has a repeating envelope without a recorded voice or microphone.
Each generated file is a 20-second loop. Spectrum shaping, smooth level ramps and digital loudness matching are engineering choices, not a safe sound-pressure certification.
Recorded appliances
- Vacuuming, sound 722 — Joseph SARDIN, BigSoundBank, CC0. The local 16.5-second loop uses original seconds 5–23, with startup and shutdown excluded.
- Hair dryer, sound 2680 — Pierre SIBANARCO, BigSoundBank, CC0. The local 9.5-second loop uses original seconds 1–12, before the speed change and shutdown.
These excerpts are converted to mono at 48 kHz, gently peak-shaped, joined with a 1.5-second crossfade and digitally level matched. Source recordings and file-specific CC0 evidence are preserved.
Recorded nature
- Sea waves, sound 266 — DenisChardonnet, BigSoundBank, CC0.
- Small stream #4, sound 1354 — Joseph SARDIN, BigSoundBank, CC0.
- Forest, sound 100 — Joseph SARDIN, CC0; birds, insects and some distant traffic.
- Wind in tall grass, sound 908 — Joseph SARDIN, CC0.
- Campaign at night #4, sound 1880 — Joseph SARDIN, CC0; crickets and occasional frogs.
- Underwater, sound 3430 — Joseph SARDIN & Axeline T., CC0; waterfall recorded with a hydrophone.
- Evening birds, sound 1859 — Joseph SARDIN, CC0.
These local derivatives use existing source excerpts, converted to mono, gently peak-shaped, digitally level matched and crossfaded into loops: 28.5 seconds for ocean and stream, 16.5 seconds for the other nature recordings. Original files and rights evidence are preserved separately. The file-specific CC0 license and publisher’s redistribution terms were rechecked October 10, 2026.
BigSoundBank’s license explanation permits editing, redistribution and commercial use of its CC0 files. This does not apply to arbitrary sound files or all shop products.
Files and preview status
Technical file checks have been performed. Adult auditory acceptance on physical devices is still pending; none of these files is presented as clinically tested or calibrated to a child’s ear.
